Christmas Eve (slow work day)

So here I am sitting in front of the computer in the Visitor Orientation Centre for Fort Langley. We've been open to the public today for the past 2.5 hours, and only 12 guests have visited.

It's expected though. Who would really want to come to an historic site on Christmas Eve?

To top things off, I appear to have caught a cold in the midst of the holiday season. Just more to add to the unfortunate events that have occurred to me this month... Nothing drastic, mind you. But just little incidents where I'm beginning to struggle in keeping my composure.

To top things off, while I was watching Chronicles of Narnia with my girlfriend at Guildford, some imbecile backed out of their parking stall and rammed into my truck, damaging the bumper and grill.

Fortunately, a good samaritan witnessed it and left a note on my car windshield with her name and phone number, as well as the license plate of the truck that hit me. (white and red pickup with Alberta license plates: DLK 434) Be on the lookout!

Then the very next day, my Flyers lose to the Vancouver Canucks 5-4. What was horrible was that I was only able to watch half of it (half of the first and all of the second) since I was summoned by my communist sister to pick her up from the skytrain station at 5 (the game started at 4:30).

So I get to the skytrain station and wait there for about 15 minutes, then I receive a phone call from Kruschev saying that she's still at work and won't have to be picked up until 630 (WTF?) I mean, she could have told me earlier!

So I drive back home, somewhat ticked off, and watch the second period. Then just before the third period starts, I have to leave and go pick up Kim Jong Il on a second attempt. She finally arrives while I listen to the game on the radio, and in a rush to get home, when I'm told to drive her to the post office since she has parcels to pick up.

Finally after the post office run and with 5 minutes remaining in the game, I begin to rush home; only to witness a severe car accident on the way. Right after seeing it happen, I deliberated with myself as to keep driving and catch the rest of the game, or to get out and help anyone if need be. My mind said GO HOME AND WATCH THE GAME, but my conscience parked the car. Fortunately no one was seriously hurt, but I had to stick around as the communist dialed 911 and I left my name and number with the innocent driver since the accident was the fault of the other.

Needless to say, I got home too late to catch the end of the game, but just in time to receive the many mocking phone calls for the Flyers loss.

Oh well, so goes life. Now I have to wait until wednesday for my hit and run appointment with ICBC.

There have been good things however. My nephew turned 1, Christmas is tomorrow, I get turkey dinner at my sister's house tonight, and then turkey dinner at my uncle's house tomorrow. But what takes the cake is how my sunshine (Heather) surprised me with Kanye West tickets on the night of the show. She duped me into thinking we were attending a Christmas party downtown for the staff at the daycare she works at, but low and behold, she showed me the tickets.

And surprisingly, it was one of the best concerts I've been to this year. I'd put it just behind the Robert Plant and Common shows. Yet another reason why I love my girlfriend.

hmmmm... maybe things actually aren't as bad as I thought.

MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYBODY
(and a happy Festivus)

But.... it's Christmas

This comes from Mark Donnelly:

Merry Christmas to everyone…
especially to the fellow who ganked the stereo from my car today.

I hope that it brings you as much pleasure as it brought me.

While I apologize for its lack of a high pass filter, I think you'll find that the mp3 functionality is top notch.

Ah yes.. I do miss it, but I'm sure it is in good hands now.

Have a wonderful holiday shit head.

Mark

SNL finally got its groove back!

Deal or No Deal

Hi! I'm Howie Mandel.

When I'm not crashing people's dinners with my bad sense of humor at Boston Pizza, I give rednecks high blood pressure by offering them a one in twentysix chance to win a million dollars.

And they can bring their families along so the crowd can mock them in humiliation.

Have they finally grown tired of answering multiple choice questions that give them 3 chances to improve their guessing; that they've replaced it with picking a briefcase that may hold a million bucks... or a penny.

After they cancelled "Bobby's World," I just love watching people fail.

the vivid dream

So last night I stayed up late watching "The Machinist" on dvd that I purchased on a hunch. Actually turned out to be well done.

Anyways, since I'm only on-call at work this month I decided to sleep in this morning (as i always do) hoping to wake up in the afternoon.

Around 9a.m. i received a phone call from work telling me to get there by 12. "Sweet" i say to myself, i can sleep in, so i set my alarm for 11a.m.

9:30 my girlfriend calls to tell me good morning, I tell her i love her and go back to sleep

then it happens
the most vivid dream i've had in ages

does it make sense?
hell no, but boy was it strange

It starts off in the evening with me visiting my friend Jerry's house (which is not possible right now since jerry is in india for the time being) then apparently i had called for my sisters to pick me up (maybe i was drunk or something)

so my sisters show up and i get in the car and we begin driving. now i wonder why all three of my sisters were in the car when one of them could have easily come to pick me up not to mention that all three of them don't live together either. hmmm?

anyways, i'm riding shotgun and we start driving downhill. looking out the front window i notice we're approaching a dead end but the car isn't slowing down.

next thing, we crash through a barrier and we're airborne, all i hear is screaming, the car tips a bit forward and i see a muddy road we're about to land on, still going downhill.

i start to scream at my sister telling her to "brake brake BRAKE!!!!!!!!!!!"

the car lands on the muddy trail, begins to fishtail, and we're still going downhill to another dead end.

she doesn't brake

we crash through that barrier as well and i brace for impact.

crash

i'm screaming

somehow, someone drags me out of the car. i can't feel my legs

my sisters run up and crowd around me but they appear to be okay. not even a scratch. wtf?
i'm concious. one of my sister's braces my head to stabilize me.

i tell them to call an ambulance and they say that i'm fine and i won't need an ambulance.

?????

then i just lay there for what seems to be forever and my sisters start to talk amongst themselves... as if nothing happened.

i again ask for the ambulance and i hear one of them telling me to "shhhhh"
what?? me to shhh? in a state like this???

i begin to scream at them and then my mouth is covered. and my sisters continue to talk. i start looking around and i hear one of them say "the show's gonna start"

i glance uphill, no sign of an ambulance but i begin to see spotlights. and out of nowhere a fashion show starts.

makes no sense does it.

as the girls start walking down the catwalk, i keep screaming for help but everyone fails to acknowledge me.

gathering all of my energy, i start to cry. then i manage to roll over and use just my arms to begin crawling up the hill.

all the way to jerry's house, screaming.

i see jerry's front door open and his dad running outside towards me. he turns towards the house and tell's jerry's mom to call an ambulance, and tells me everything will be fine.

so i lay there, relieved

and close my eyes as i begin to hear the sirens.

then my alarm clock went off and i wake up.

after my shower and getting ready, i went downstairs to grab a muffin and be on my way

two of my sisters where in the kitchen and said "good morning"

i just turned and scowled.

how could they?

I can explain

It's been more than 2 weeks since i've seriously posted. but the picture above is my reason why!
season 4 of "24" came out on DVD on dec. 6th and i've finally finished the season.
easily one of the best television shows out there.

Nonetheless, i must wait another year until season 5 comes out on dvd as well.

I never watch it on television since i always seem to get interrupted and there's no way that I'd continuously watch it 24 weeks in a row (give or take a couple do to specials and holidays)

so yes, i'm back

shaun, come grab it when you're ready

About last night.

We went for sushi and hung out at the Soho afterwards. It's licensed... and has billiards!

There were good times had by all. Caesar is laughing because he dumped a bowl of miso soup on my jeans.

my girlfriend Heather was there, as well as my beer drinking friend Geoff. Heather stole my toque.

so was Shaun (www.shaunagintavern.blogspot.com)
Justin and Ken were perplexed as to how we ended up here

Justin Salon refused to pose, but Chris was happy

Tracy (www.ithinktracyisspecial.blogspot.com) and Ken need Dr. Phil

Tracy lately had issues about her hair. Mike thought it was good enough to eat

Cheers buddy! Little do they know that one of them will open up their homes to party on New Year's Eve!

This is my Russian lover, Vlad. It's okay, Heather knows.

An excerpt from the journeys of Ken

"I remember one doctor I had as a child, he was a real Bill Cosby type. When he had to give us our flu shots, he'd say 'alright Izzy, turn over, I have a bedtime story to tell you.' And you know where that needle went? Right in the tukus! Your friends in New York will get a kick out of that joking statement!"
